Grants Made

Since its 1974 beginnings and with its 50th fiscal year distributions now completed and its 51st just underway, the Foundation has awarded 782 grants amounting to almost $10 million dollars ($9,869,197) of which a $500,000 commitment for our 52nd year is still outstanding.

Our fiscal year is April 1st to March 31st.  Thus, “2024 Grants,” for example, lists grants for the 2024-25, our current fiscal year.  “2023 Grants” includes all our grants and outstanding commitments for the previous period and also any future commitments. New government regulations, which for us amount to a 40% increase in our disbursement quota, came into effect for 2023-34 and these regulations will change radically the way we distribute funds for the next several years at least.

PLEASE NOTE: The Foundation is not currently accepting requests for grants. All funds will be assigned by the Board of Directors in the form, mainly, of one or more larger “legacy grants,” with a few additional smaller ones.

2024 Grants

In this current period a legacy grant payment of $500,000 has been awarded to Western University, with a similar payment due in the next fiscal year. Some additional funding will be available during this period, but funds will be limited and dependent partly on investment performance. Some grants will be awarded by the Board of Directors of the Foundation.  We are not accepting applications during this current year or the next. Grants awarded will be posted here as they occur:

        • Western University ($500,000 2/3)
        • The New Quarterly Literary Society Inc. ($12,000)

Total grants awarded for this period so far are $512,000.
